A wave of relief washed over Kayla, knowing at last that they were not in danger. However, that relief was quickly overshadowed by new worries. “What happens to them now?” asked Erica, her voice laden with anxiety. The animal control officer, sensing the tension, assured them that the capybaras would be treated and cared for properly, but uncertainty about their future still hung in the air. Kayla, looking at the creatures with a new eye, felt a mixture of affection and concern. The capybaras, which had previously been just a strange and unexpected discovery, now had a special place in her heart.
