We’re pretty sure they had poles by the middle of the twentieth century, but perhaps things were done differently in England. In addition, considering that the image is nearly seventy years old, we’re a little astounded by its quality.

The swimmer appears to be directly behind a real, live polar bear in addition to a jellyfish, which is not the safest thing to be around. The formation of the incredible fins, wings, or whatever they’re called on this particular fish is the true sight to behold. Although it appears to be a larger fish, we’re shocked that it has so much strength. You can probably imagine the outcome of this.
